Use the Question Mark cursor to point at any ICON in the Navigation window or any MENU item to find out more about its function. CLICK ON IT AGAIN TO RETURN TO NORMAL OPERATION.
More detailed help is available under the Controls menu (short menus) or the Docs menu (long menus). Read further to get a summary of the navigation capabilities.
To navigate, move the cursor until it turns into a pointing hand, then click on the top to move forward. To turn around, click on the bottom. To view left or right, click on the respective side of the screen. Clicking on the navigation arrows will perform the same functions. If the cursor turns to a STOP sign, you can't go in that direction.
Flip the six-sided Cube to a different face by moving the cursor to a Cube edge until an arrow cursor appears, then click to rotate the cube. You can always return to the Navigation face by clicking on the green and red symbol in the upper right corner of five of its sides (it's in the center on the "Supplemental Icons" face).
Click on the highlighted Icon to activate a function. Click on the Icon again or click on the image itself to return to the Landscape view.
Pressing on the space bar will temporarily hide the Navigation Cube; it will also bring it back.
Select the Geographic Map from the Windows menu to follow your path. Click on the desired location on the path to jump to a new location. The red square is your current location. The green squares are past locations, or your track. Select the Relative Map to navigate according to the database orientation. The Green side of the square cursor is oriented in the direction you are facing.
VLNavigate™ has several navigation options in the Edit->Preferences dialog box and in the Long Menus. Look at these for other methods to suit your preferences.
Click on a red diamond in the image to learn about a particular feature. Click on it again to make the text disappear.
A glossary is available for you to learn more about a specific feature in an image. Look for a • next to a word. Click near the • and a text box will come up. Click on the text box to remove it.
Some monitors display the images with less contrast than others. Make sure your own monitor brightness and contrast controls are adjusted properly. The program also contains a brightness and color balance control. You can use the b (brighter) and d (darker) keys on your keyboard, or use the brightness controls under Display–>Adjust Screen Colors. #
